Built in 1862 by John C. Eastes, Black Moon
Manor was the first house constructed in Hancock County,
Indiana. Since that time, it has had a strange and often
frightening history. Used as a smallpox hospital during a local
outbreak, legend tells of more than 200 people who died within
the walls of the house. The dead were buried behind the mansion
and many of the tombstones still stand in this small cemetery
today, along with that of a woman who froze to death in a
blizzard and others.
The mansion also became a dark place for the Eastes family. Many
of them died early, tragic and unexpected deaths while living in
the house.

Some of the members of
the Eastes family, along with the dead from the smallpox
epidemic, are believed to linger in this house. History tells
strange stories of eerie events and sightings, including the
ghost of Rachel Eastes, who was only five years old when she
perished in the house more than a century ago. |
The current owner of the
house, Matt Speck, stumbled onto the mansion while looking for
an abandoned property that he could turn into a haunted house
attraction. He bought the house after searching for the owner
for two months. During the renovations, unusual things began to
happen --- disembodied voices were heard, objects were thrown,
tools disappeared, Matt was shoved while walking down the stairs
and there was constant feeling as though being watched. Since
opening the attraction, others have also reported real
supernatural events -- the "haunted house" was actually haunted! |

The cemetery behind Black Moon Manor, which
is also haunted and part of the overnight ghost hunt with
American Hauntings. |
The house has become the site of frequently reported paranormal
activity over the past few years and few have ever left without
experiencing something that cannot easily be explained, from
personal experiences, to ghost sightings and electronic voice
phemonena!
Now, join American Hauntings and Chris & Angela Settles for a chilling overnight
at one of Indiana's most haunted -- but least known -- locations,
Black Moon Manor. Spend the night looking for the ghosts of this historic
-- and very haunted -- mansion with a limited number of ghost
hunters during a private ghost hunt at the
house. Find out if the place is really as haunted as people are
starting to claim and perhaps come face to face with one of the
former occupants of Black Moon Manor! The evening will include a tour of the mansion, followed by an all-night ghost
hunt at
the house and nearby cemetery, which is also considered to be
haunted. The Black Moon Manor haunting experience begins at 7:00
p.m. on September 25 and continues until sunrise -- or until the
last guests go screaming from the house!
