The imposing house that is now known as "Bryn Du Mansion" was built by Henry D. Wright in 1865 but in 1905, it became the house that it is today when it was purchased by railroad magnate John Sutphin Jones. With an impressive 52 rooms and 12 fireplaces, the house looms over the surrounding countryside --  which is dotted with ancient Indian burial mounds. Jones extensively remodeled the house, turning an Italianate villa into a Greek Revival Mansion, and lavished money onto the surrounding area and the city of Granville. To this day, it still bears his mark and his name-- and some say that Jones himself still walks the hallways and paces the rooms of Bryn Du Mansion! And he does not walk this place alone... his daughter Sallie Jones Sexton, who had her own ties to the mansion is also believed to haunt the house. Over the years, witnesses have seen both of their apparitions and have reported the sounds of voices and footsteps in what appear to be empty rooms!
