Join American Hauntings for a chilling night at one of the most actively haunted spots in Wisconsin! Spend the night looking for the ghosts of this former school during a private event when you can find out if the place is as haunted as so many people are starting to claim. Will you come face-for-face with one of the forgotten students or staff members of the old school? This is your chance to find out!

The village of Glenbeulah -- located at the edge the mysterious Kettle Moraine Forest – began its history as Clark’s Mill and gained its first school in 1849. It was a simple schoolhouse, divided in half for younger and older students. Later, though, the town changed its name, taking “glen” from its picturesque location and “Beulah” from the name of the mother of a contactor who brought the railroad to the village.

In the early 1900s, many rural Wisconsin schools began making the change from scattered one-room schoolhouses to official buildings that educated many ages and grades. Glenbeulah was no exception. In 1916, the first incarnation of the school was built, and it was expanded into its current size in 1938.

The school operated for many years, although enrollment steadily declined with the shrinking of the nearby towns. Eventually, a decision was finally made to combine school districts with the nearby town of Elkhart and the old school was closed in 1995.

The school remained vacant for the next 27 years when it was purchased by Melissa Clevenger and Craig Nehring, who hoped to turn it into an event space.

But they soon found out they were not in the school alone.

They soon discovered what visitors to the location would soon discover for themselves – that the old school was haunted. They were soon reporting slamming doors, unexplained footsteps, shadowy figures, and motion detectors that picked up movement and people that simply weren’t there.

And then there were the voices. They are one of the most frequent things reported in the building – laughter, yells, and full conversations occurring in rooms that were found to be completely empty. One night, Melissa and Craig called “hello!” down a vacant stairway and a male’s voice answered them.

There was no one else in the building at the time.

Moments later, they hear two adult men talking, followed by footsteps going up and down the stairs. They checked to be sure they were alone – they were.

The few visitors that have braved the building so far have reported some of the strange things that Craig and Melissa have experienced -- including disembodied voices, phantom footsteps, knocking, tapping and ringing sounds, cries, yells, laughter, and the voice of a little girl giggling. One EVP session even picked up the voice of a girl who said her name was “Melissa.”
